Understanding Adolescence explores the significant growth and change that happens in the brains, bodies, and lives of taiohi. This workshop highlights why adolescence is considered a time of opportunity, where healthy experiences can shape learning, relationships, and wellbeing for years to come. Participants reflect on what can help or get in the way of healthy development, and the critical role adults play in guiding taiohi through the choices, changes, and challenges of this stage.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand adolescence as an important period of growth in the brains, bodies, and lives of adolescents.
- Recognise adolescence as “a time of opportunity,” full of potential and possibilities, where experiences can shape their learning, relationships and wellbeing
for years to come.
- Identify what helps or hinders healthy growth in adolescents.
- Recognise and affirm the vital role of supportive adults to help adolescents navigate the choices, changes, and challenges of this stage.
