Description

 

Ka Hao Te Rangatahi explores adolescence as a time of renewal, growth, and potential, designed through an ao Māori lens and supported by western science. Grounded in the whakataukī “Ka pū te ruha, ka hao te rangatahi — as the old net is placed aside, the new net goes fishing”, this workshop looks at the significant changes in the brains, bodies, learning, and relationships of taiohi, and how guidance, opportunities, and connection can help them flourish.

 

 

Learning Outcomes

 

  • Deepen understanding of adolescent development and the influences on taiohi wellbeing

  • Reflect on insights from mātauranga Māori, tūpuna wisdom, and western science

  • Recognise the importance of whanaungatanga, culturally grounded relationships and safe environments

  • Identify ways their professional role can help to support rangatahi and whānau to reach their potential
